NY Gourd and Artisan Festival

Gourds can be wonderfully creative when used in art!  The Dig Art! Cultivating Creativity in the Garden lessons address gourd crafting, among numerous other arts-based activities.  All activities are grounded in ecological stewardship.

Save the dates: Saturday & Sunday September 13 & 14 2014

The New York State Gourd Society and The Cornell Cooperative Extension-Broome County are co-sponsoring the first gourd/multi-artisan festival in New York.
What you can expect:

  • Gourd classes, tools & supplies, raw gourds
  • Alpaca & other fiber art classes, supplies & animals
  • Soap/Lotion, Wood Carving: classes, tools & supplies
  • Jewelry classes, tools & supplies
  • Silent Auction & Gallery
  • Probably more!


  • Teach a class(es). Teacher’s application is available at & by request @ (Due date  is May 15th)
  • Sell supplies or your finished art. Vendor’s application available at & by request @  (First come/first served; indoor & outdoor spaces available)
  • Provide free demonstration(s). Volunteer by letting me know (
  • Volunteer to “welcome” visitors and help with whatever needs doing. (
  • Host a “Make & Take” station for children.  Volunteer by letting me know (
  • Take a class. Classes will be posted online July 1st and online registration will also be available. (Early bird registration is $5 less per class; ends Sept 5th; later registration and onsite registrations accepted as space allows.)


  • Cornell Cooperative Extension, 840 Upper Front Street, Binghamton, NY 13905-1500 easy access from Routes 81, 17/86, and 88 (less than 1 mile from all of these major routes)
